De Smet's Wireless Network
De Smet offers a wireless network and internet access throughout the building. The network features over 70 independent wireless access points. They are managed in a way that allows a user to always stay connected even as you walk through the building. The speed of your connection will be determined by several factors. These factors include the number of users on the connected access point as well as how many people are currently streaming ESPN Sports etc.When you are having problems with your wireless connection:
Step 1: Make sure your wireless is turned on2740p - check that the wireless light on the side of your computer is blue. If it is orange, flip it so that it turns blue2760p - check that the wireless light on the side of your computer is white. If it is not, flip it so that it turns white Step 2: Make sure that you are connected to a wireless access pointOn the bottom right of your computer screen in the system tray is an indicator that will tell you if you are connected. If you right click on the symbol in the tray you can select status and see if you are connected. If you are connected try using the internet or network. If you are not connected or your strength is 1 bar then from the status window (that you just checked) click on "view wireless networks" then you can disconnect and reconnect the network and hope that it works. | ![]() |
Step 3: Log In with the correct user and click on the Moodle link to unblockIf you are connected but blocked from nearly everything then check the following 2 things...1. Make sure you are logged in as your normal De Smet user and not your DSAdmin account 2. Click the link on the Moodle front page. Step 4: As a last resortGo to the It Center for assistance |
