Course Goals of the Intro To Computer class

As freshman, all students will take an intro class to using the De Smet Tablet PC. The goals of this class include:

• Students will accept and exercise the responsibility of technology-based learning by demonstrating discipline, proper maintenance, and insight on the role of the computer in the De Smet community.
• During the school day, students will use the computer only in ways that facilitate learning.
• Students will use the computer to acquire appropriate information.
• Students will use the computer to organize essential information.
• Students will use the computer to distribute relevant information and communicate ideas.
• Students will understand and practice the appropriate tools and strategies necessary to reach their academic potential, such as:
        o electronic inking,
        o touch keyboarding,
        o MS Office tools and other related software,
        o electronic communications (Email, Moodle, webpage design),
        o organization (OneNote, file management - flow of information)
