Tablet Accessories

While your computer comes ready to go, there are some accessories you may want to consider. None of these options are required for success but may make good birthday/Christmas gifts, etc. We do not require any of these upgrades!

HP's Tablet tc2740 Accessories Page - This link provides a good list of possible accessories for the Tablet PC. You will want to check price and availability at other online or local vendors.

Some Common Accessories

External Mouse - Some students find it much easier to use an external mouse similar to the ones attached to the desktop computer. These would have to connect to the computer through a USB connection. These can be connected with the traditional wired version or they come wireless.

Extended Travel Battery: Li-Ion 8-Cell Common Travel Battery PB993A
> View QuickSpec - The Common Travel Battery powers your HP notebook while in the office or on the road. Used in conjunction with your primary battery, this powerful travel battery can more than double your battery life, providing up to 8 hours of battery life without having to plug in or swap out! Price = $149.00

USB Thumb Drive - small, external, storage device ranging from 128mb - 2gb. These storage devices plug directly into the USB port of the computer and can be used to save files and share files between your home computer and your Tablet PC or for sharing with other students. This is also a good way to backup important work. These are sold with the De Smet logo, in the bookstore with the De Smet Depot and are widely available at local stores and online retailers. Prices start at $5 (4GB) and increase based on storage capacity and transfer speed.

Secure Digital Card - small external storage card that slides into an SD slot, on the right side of the computer, towards the back. These provide the same function as the thumb drive. However, they can be left in the computer and do not stick out of the computer. They can be used to store music files, etc. While they offer an advantage by being stored inside the computer, they may not connect to other computers that lack an SD card reader. Prices start at $5 (2GB) and increase based on storage capacity and transfer speed.
