Microsoft OneNote
OneNote is a Microsoft Office Product. It is designed specifically for the TabletPC. It has the ability to easily integrate typing, electronic ink, and information from just about any other electronic format. The program automatically saves information every few seconds and is by default located in the students "My documents" area so it will also be synchronized as well as backed-up. OneNote has other features that can help you take notes more effectively. To open OneNote: Click on Start > All programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office OneNote 2010
Notebooks hold sections and sections hold pages as shown in the image below.

To create a new Notebook: click on File and select new
- Under Store Notebook on: click on My computer.
- Under Name: Give the Notebook a name (Biology, World History etc.)
- Location: Leave the default location and click "Create Notebook"

The Notebook will be created inside the OneNote Notebooks folder in your My Documents area so that it will be synchronized and backed up.
To create a new section: you can use the new section button on the toolbar or right click on a notebook.

To create a new page: simply click on the new page icon in the right column where pages are displayed.

Work Area: You can type as well as draw... In the work area you can select the pen tool and draw anywhere on the page. You can also type anywhere on the page. Once you type a typebox is created that can be moved and manipulated. The ability to use typing and inking together gives this this software a nice feel for the students.
Tags: You can tag items as important or as questions and then organize your Tags. This is helpful for test and semester reviews. It could also be used to identify questions they may have during reading or class. As with all features of OneNote they are more useful when you use them on a regular basis.
After tags are created you can display a summary of all the tags for each folder or for all of the folders within the OneNote directory. You can display this summary by clicking on the find tags button just to the left of where you add tags. In the Tags Summary pane you have control of which tags to display and how to display them.
Tasks: You can send tasks directly to Outlook. Students can use this feature to help them remember homework assignments. It sends whatever is selected to a "to do" list in outlook. Most students spend time in Outlook for their schedule as well as checking email etc. This becomes a visible reminder and way of organizing their homework. Again this feature is only helpful if it is used often.
